Update

I am excited to say that I'm almost fully funded for the trip -- I might be there already, with some contributions that haven't been logged at OM yet! If more contributions come in than are needed for my account, OM will give to other missionaries who are in need. Thank you all so much - and thank you for your continued prayers for me and for the team.

I also just found out yesterday that I'm the only American on the cycling team. That's by no means a bad thing, but could definitely be an interesting experience!

Update

If anyone has tried to use the "give" link on the sidebar, I'm sorry it was not functioning -- and thank you for trying it! The website where you can do that is: www.omusa.org/give.  My Operation Mobilization missionary account number is #2257556.

I do want you to know that if OM receives more than what is needed for this outreach, they will use it to support other missionaries who are in need.

Thank you for your prayers! I am overwhelmed and encouraged by the ways that people have responded and I know that God is hearing your prayers and preparing the hearts of the team and the hearts of the people that we will meet.

Romania, here I come!

I'm excited to tell you all that I'm headed to Romania in August. It will be for a short term mission, but I am hoping that it will lead to more.

Over the past year and a half that I've been home, the doors to go seem to have been closed. Either what I was planning to do was changed in the field or God just didn't give me peace to step out, and I know there were also moments when I stepped back out of fear.

But now, I am happy to tell you that I have a ticket and my bags are packed! Well, ok, it's a little too soon for that last part, but I've been mentally packing them since I bought the ticket.

I'll be going for 10 days with Operation Mobilization and then visiting my friends at Calvary Chapel Bucharest before coming back. I'm looking forward to biking through part of Romania with the short term team with OM! We are starting from Pitesti, which I am told is not terribly mountainous (actually the word used to describe it was "flat," but I'm not getting my hopes up too much, knowing that the Carpathian and Transylvanian Alps are nearby).

So with that news posted for the world to see... i think I will go get on my bicycle while there is still light and get a ride in for today. I've started training for the trip. So far I know that I can bike ten miles in a stretch with just one biking buddy. At the end of the month I'm going to try biking 15 miles with a group.
